UPS warnings and problems
Start with your UPS model. It's on the label on the back or bottom of the UPS. Schneider Electric's battery selector asks for that model rather than the code on the old battery.

Replace battery warning
Your UPS is asking for attention, but the warning doesn't say which battery to buy. Search your model to see which one it takes, straight from the manufacturer.
Runtime is shorter than it used to be
More equipment plugged in, an older battery, or a weak one can all cause this. Stick with the battery listed for your model rather than a bigger one.
Beeping or chirping
Each model has its own beep and chirp patterns, so check your manual. A steady alarm and an occasional chirp usually mean different things. Neither one, on its own, means you need a new battery. If you have an APC Back-UPS, open the family list and find your exact model first.
It shut off during an outage
There may have been more plugged in than the UPS can handle, or the battery may have run out. Check your model before you change any parts.
The new battery isn't charging
Check the manual for your model before doing anything else. Please don't open a sealed battery or bridge the terminals to try to wake it up.
A new battery didn't fix it
Another battery isn't automatically the answer. The fault may be in the UPS itself, so service or a new UPS may be the better option.
